VISION
"My heart is steadfast, O God; I will sing and make music with all my soul." (Ps 108:1)
If your heart is stirred by this and you have a musical gift, this school is for you! Allow God to fine tune your gift and show you how to use it effectively in missions. Be challenged in your relationship with God, find your purpose in the Great Commission, and embark with us on the adventure!
ABOUT
The school runs from JANUARY to JUNE every year. Next school starts: January 3, 2010 - June 19, 2010
Costs Australian Dollars: Registration: $30 per person, Lecture fees: $3750, Resource fees $150. This does not include overseas student health care (mandatory for all non-Australians). Outrach fees will depend on the outreach location(s) and will be advised during lecture phase.
The School Of Music in Missions (SOMM) is a discipleship based training school that trains musicians in the areas of Christian character, contemporary Christian music, music performance, missions, and other topics as well. The SOMM should not be the first step into music ministry, but could be the "next" step for those who desire to use their musical gifts in missions.
"My heart for this school is to train and mobilize Christian musicians who have a heart for God, compassion for people, a high standard of artistic excellence, and seriousness for music ministry. I want to see the development and personal growth of the musician's character and ability, vision and value, skill and creativity improved thereby giving the musician a platform to express his/her heart to God through music and also to the nations of the earth.
"One of the Words the Lord gave me for this school is 'Stewardship.' Matthew 25:14 -30 talks about The Parable of the Three Servants... We need to take ownership of what God has given us as individuals, and mostly as musicians, investing our time, strength and energy in what we do at the right place and time. As you invest your gift it leads to multiplication. God wants us to invest our gifts in Him to enable growth, increase, and multiplication..."
