About
Have you ever felt like you see the world differently from those around you? In any situation—be it fixing breakfast, studying in a library or sitting on a bus—you immediately make creative connections and imagine an artistic way to express life as its happening at that very moment. You begin to move subtly to the ambient rhythms on the street as you choreograph a dance in your head. You string together articulate words into a melody that perfectly captures the emotions swirling inside you. You envision an ordinary scene exploding with life as its potential is realized on the surface of a canvas. Not everyone thinks this way, but you do. You are an artist...
With the gifts you have, you have the ability to relate to God in a unique way. God, the master Innovator and ultimate Artist, understands the way you think and wants to connect with you in a way that caters to your creative spirit. Maybe you’ve never even considered that before. Perhaps you always felt like God gave you these gifts just to get you to use them for ministry. While serving the Lord with your talents is certainly a wonderful thing (and one that we are called to do), there is a far more significant reason why you have the artistic talents that you do. The Music, Arts and Dance Discipleship Training School (MAD DTS) will help you discover the reason why God uniquely fashioned you as an artist.
During the MAD DTS, you can explore the depths of your creativity—take risks, invent new works of art, develop new perspectives—in an environment that encourages freedom of expression. Living in community and collaborating with other artists, your craft can come alive through the synergy of shared imagination.
As you form artistic teams during the first phase of the DTS, you strategically plan how you will use your talents to minister in another culture during the second phase. Throughout this process of growth and exploration, you will have committed mentors walking alongside you, challenging you to greater realms of personal development and intimacy with the Lord.
Ultimately, that’s what it’s all about—you and your relationship with God. MAD DTS is not intended to dramatically increase your skill in music, art or dance, although this may happen in such an environment of frequent practice and showcase. The intention of the DTS, first and foremost, is to help you learn to use your existing artistic talents to worship and celebrate your shared life with Christ.
As you make experiencing the fullness of God your priority, we believe that God will reveal to you your unique role in advancing the arts and your potential as a co-creator with Him.
