Founded in 1992 by Rod & Anne Thorpe alongside current managing directors David & Carolyn Stephenson, YWAM Newcastle is committed to raising up missional minded individuals. We believe all are called to play their part in the Great Commission and aim to equip and send them into all corners of the globe.YWAM Newcastle officially opened in July 1992 and went on to run their first DTS in 1994.
26 years, several properties and countless schools later, YWAM Newcastle is home to 80-100 staff members, trains over 150 students per year and typically sees hundreds finding faith annually.
Since 1992 God has been directing us to reach out to The City of Newcastle, remote communities of Australia, and regions of Mexico, Japan and Papua New Guinea. Over the years we have been involved in countless outreach opportunities including skate exhibitions, rock concerts, teen camps, youth outreaches, serving the homeless and so much more.
We continue to do this today through our training courses, Youth Street program and the delivery of vital medical and training services through our ships ministry in Papua New Guinea.
